The La Porte Independent School District board on Tuesday approved its consent agenda and introduced several recently hired campus leaders to the community.
The consent agenda — approved en bloc — included regular meeting minutes from March 11, 2025; principals’ reports from district campuses; the district financial report for February 2025; human resources reports; a budget amendment; approval of purchases and services (including stadium grid installation and painting at DeWalt High School); and personnel recommendations including probationary and noncertified contract recommendations. The board moved, seconded and adopted the consent agenda unanimously.
Superintendent Doctor Jackson introduced the new campus leaders who were present for brief remarks: - Joseph Chandler — Principal, Academy at DeWalt High School. Jackson said Chandler brings 28 years of experience in education, including prior principal roles; Chandler told the board he was "very excited to come to a a a plus district, and I'm I'm looking to make great contributions, into the district." - Candace Thibodeaux — Associate Principal, La Porte High School. Thibodeaux comes from Clear Falls High School with experience as an assistant principal and teacher. - Brooke Watson — Assistant Principal, La Porte High School. Watson was introduced from Clear Creek ISD where she served as a math teacher and department chair. - Casey Dixon — Assistant Principal, James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus. Dixon, a La Porte alumnus, most recently served as a math interventionist at Bayshore Elementary.
Board members also approved an amended list of names (motioned and seconded) during the consent sequence; that motion passed unanimously.
The superintendent said the new leaders will begin their roles in the coming weeks and trustees and community members welcomed them. Several trustees praised recent campus work orders, construction punch-list progress on facility projects and the district’s work supporting extracurricular and CTE activities.
