Bow accepts scoreboards and a practice "plyo" wall donated by local baseball club; public hearing set for higher‑value gift

Selectmen voted to accept two used scoreboards and a plyo (kickback) wall donated by the Bow Athletic Club (BAC) and to schedule a statutory public hearing for a non‑cash donation whose combined value exceeded the town’s $5,000 threshold.

Donation details: BAC representatives said the scoreboards were salvaged from the Field House and are in good used condition. The club proposed installing one scoreboard at Gosling Field (near the playground hill) and mounting the second on a pivoting pedestal near the Gordon Goodwin softball field so it can be angled for both softball and fall soccer configurations. BAC also offered a roughly 6x12 foot plyometric hitting wall (plyo board) to be placed near the Gordon batting cage. BAC volunteers offered to supply materials and to coordinate trenching for a 120‑volt power run from the nearby Gamlin Pavilion; town staff said DigSafe would be contacted before any excavation.

Public‑hearing requirement and motions: Town policy requires a public hearing for non‑cash donations with a cumulative value above $5,000. The board scheduled the required public hearing (seven‑day notice) and moved to accept the scoreboards and the kickback wall. The board later amended its motion to accept one scoreboard for Gosling Field immediately and then accepted the second scoreboard and the plyo wall in subsequent recorded motions. The town clarified that, under policy, accepting the donation does not create an automatic obligation to replace or upkeep the items if they reach end of life.
