Greensville planning commission recommends special-use permit for private hunt club near Taylor's Mill Pond

The Greensville County Planning Commission on an unanimous roll-call vote recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve SP1-2025, an application by LSW Land and Timber LLC (applicant Kenny Allen) for a special‑use permit to establish a private hunt club and place a 24-by-36 metal storage/shelter building on land east of Taylor’s Mill Pond on Little Low Grand Road.

Staff described the subject parcel as located in the Zion election district in the A‑1 (agricultural) zoning district and “almost a acre and a half.” The staff report said a hunt club is an allowable use in A‑1 with a special‑use permit and concluded the request fits the county’s 2024 comprehensive plan rural‑area guidance, which recognizes private recreational uses including hunt clubs. Staff recommended approval with conditions that address public safety, health and general welfare and noted an added condition requiring engineered stamped plans if the building is to be occupied in the future.
