Finance director reports $3.9 million Tiger grant reimbursement; county awaiting updated Triadic reports

Colfax County Finance Director Leroy Sandoval reported to the Board of Commissioners that the county’s final reimbursement for the Tiger grant was marked as paid “yesterday” and that the amount was $3,900,000.
Sandoval said the county has submitted first- and second-quarter reporting to LGBMS and that the first quarter was approved by DFA while the second quarter remained in DFA’s approval queue. He told the commission staff have prepared a three-year trend comparison of revenues and expenses by department and are scheduling training for department heads and elected officials to explain the budgeting and reporting process.
Sandoval and county IT staff told commissioners they cannot generate a more recent budget report because the county’s newly installed Triadic server is failing to produce some reports; that problem prompted the commission to agree to postpone agenda items 8 and 9. The county manager later said the server room housing the device lacks cooling and has dust issues; staff recommended either installing an air-conditioning unit or relocating the server to the probate office to protect equipment and backups.
On grants, staff said the senior center’s construction phase is progressing after a second notice of obligation was approved by DFA and procurement actions were completed. Staff also reported progress on drawing down state reimbursements for airport apron and hangar work and said the county expects to purchase three new vehicles pending a budget transfer at the next meeting. The manager said the county is awaiting an MOU from the village of Angel Fire for an advertising grant to support commercial air service.
