Board advised to award $9.5 million bid for Lower Gulf Way sewer interceptor; action scheduled for regular meeting

City engineering staff recommended awarding the Lower Gulf Way interceptor construction contract for Alternate A to Coakley Company Inc. for $9,496,272, Joey Stadler told the board at the April 15 agenda meeting.
Stadler said the work, designed by RJN, includes roughly 5,700 feet of 42-inch fiberglass-reinforced pipe and 14 manholes, beginning at the Gulf Basin Pump Station and following Gulf Creek. The award recommendation covers Alternate A only; four alternates were included in the bid form.
Stadler said the award recommendation is part of the city’s response to an ADEQ consent administrative order (LIS-22-077). He said Coakley was the only bidder and that RJN provided a certified bid tab and letter of recommendation dated Nov. 19, 2024; those documents are included in the packet.
The agenda meeting did not include a board vote; staff recommended the board consider the award at the upcoming formal meeting.
