Vigo County reports 376 parcels sold at in-person 2024 tax sale; online sale set for Sept. 16–18

Amy Jones, tax specialist for Vigo County, said the county held an in-person tax sale this year and offered 631 parcels for sale; 376 parcels were sold and 97 bidders registered.
Larry (staff member) explained that original property owners have 120 days to redeem properties by paying outstanding debts; if they do, the property is returned to them. He said the county cannot yet provide a final total dollar amount from the sale and that redemption activity during the 120-day period will affect final distributions.
Jones said the county’s next tax sale will be held online Sept. 16–18 and will be handled by SRA. The earlier in-person sale was described by staff as largely successful and well attended.
No formal financial totals from the sale were provided at the meeting; staff said final accounting is pending the 120-day redemption window and will be reported later.
Ending: County staff said they expect to complete post-sale accounting after the redemption period and will return with final figures to the commissioners.
