Staff also said the city was awarded an underrepresented-communities grant from the National Park Service — $75,000 for a National Register survey of Carver Park in Mobile Heights — but that the grant contract and final confirmation had not yet arrived and other awardees reported the same uncertainty. Staff said they had not received definitive guidance on whether the award was affected by recent grant adjustments.
Separately, staff said they had begun site-form work for a neighborhood designation effort (referred to in staff notes as "South Hole" site forms), covering roughly 380 properties. Staff completed a records-indexing step with the county probate office to improve notice to future property buyers and will incorporate site forms into a designation report for the designation committee to consider.
