Brazos County commissioners approve proclamations, appointments, refunds and budget amendments; table tolling agreement

At its April 2025 session the Brazos County Commissioner's Court approved a set of routine items including a proclamation, an appointment to an emergency services district board, several tax refunds, budget amendments and personnel changes; the court also tabled action on a tolling-agreement extension after a last-minute change from another party.
The court approved a proclamation designating April as an assault-awareness and prevention month; county representatives attended the presentation and the proclamation was adopted by voice vote. The court appointed Doug Box to Brazos County Emergency Services District No. 3 to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2025. The court also approved permission to advertise an auction for surplus property.
The court tabled authorization for the county judge to sign an extension of a tolling agreement (originally approved Jan. 23, 2024) after other attorneys submitted a last-minute change; the court said attorneys must review the revision and that the item will likely return to the agenda next week.
Other approvals included tax-refund applications (Amanda Holland for $104.98 pursuant to Tax Code Section 33.011 and a separate grouped set of refunds), FY 2024–25 budget amendments (25.01–25.05), personnel change-of-status items and payment of claims (claim ranges recorded in the agenda). The court also acknowledged the Brazos County Emergency Services District No. 2 financial statement for the year ended Sept. 30, 2024, and the county auditor’s monthly report for January 2025.
The court voted to convene an executive session under Texas Government Code Sections 551.087 (economic development), 551.0725 (business/financial issues related to negotiations), and 551.071 (consultation with attorney regarding litigation). The meeting went into executive session by unanimous roll call and reconvened with no action taken. The court then adjourned.
