Brazos County commissioners approved a set of contract amendments on routine maintenance and insurance that add the downtown parking garage to county service agreements, after a resident asked the court to explain the county’s relationship to the garage and the financial impact on taxpayers.
Jody Quimby of River Garden Court asked the court whether the county owned, leased or operated the garage and whether county involvement was a net benefit. “So, in summary, I’d like to know if the county’s involvement with the garage is a benefit to the county residents and if that benefit outweighs whatever liability you’re taking on,” Quimby said during public comment.
