Commissioners approve extended hours for proposed gym on Watson Road

Michael Caldwell, the applicant, said the earlier hours would allow community members who work at typical daytime shifts to exercise before work and that the facility will include massage therapy and physical therapy services. He said the site already abuts businesses that operate 24 hours and that the applicant planned a six‑foot wall on the north side to limit noise and light impacts. Caldwell said the existing parking and site configuration would avoid off‑site queuing issues.
Commissioner Cohen moved approval; Commissioner Wessel seconded. The clerk recorded the motion as carried 6–0.
The approval modifies the planned development conditions to permit the expanded hours cited; no additional operational conditions or enforcement measures were recorded at the hearing. The applicant did not provide detailed noise studies or lighting plans at the hearing; the board did not request those materials as conditions of approval.
