Council approves minutes and a slate of appointments; committee recommendation adopted

Allegheny County Council approved the minutes of its March 11, 2025 regular meeting, received and filed a summary of executive actions for March 2025, and approved a slate of appointments to county authorities and advisory boards after the Committee on Appointment Review recommended them.

The council voted by voice to approve appointments that include: the appointment of Patrick J. Catena to the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (term through 12/31/2029), and multiple appointments and reappointments to the Community College of Allegheny County Board of Trustees and the Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Advisory Board. The committee on appointment review reported it met in April 2025 and affirmatively recommended the nominees.

The clerk read appointment docket numbers into the record (examples: 13476-25 for the Sanitary Authority appointment; 13477-25 through 13480-25 for Community College trustee appointments). The slate of Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Advisory Board appointments (docket series beginning 13419-25 and continuing through 13429-25) were announced with their respective term expirations; the committee moved their recommendation and council approved by voice vote.

Other formal actions taken by voice vote included receiving and filing a communication summarizing approved executive actions for March 2025 and approving the meeting minutes by motion. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript for these actions; all were recorded as carried on voice votes.

Council member Nacharadet Chapkis reported that the Committee on Appointment Review met and recommended the appointments; the recommendation was moved, seconded and adopted by the full council.
