Castleberry ISD highlights talent-pipeline participants enrolled through Grand Canyon University program

Dr. Mirna Blanchard presented program updates and recognized a group of Castleberry ISD employees enrolled in a Grand Canyon University (GCU) online talent-pipeline program during a Castleberry ISD Board of Education meeting.
"They do need 120 hours to graduate," Blanchard said, describing the seven- to eight-week pacing of the asynchronous program and noting several participants are at or past the halfway point in completed hours.
Blanchard read the program roster and the participants’ anticipated teaching assignments and credit progress. Highlights from the roster presented on the record included:
- Rocio Bautista: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, 44 credit hours completed; currently an instructional coding aide at Castleberry Elementary. - Sandra Cervantes: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (STEM focus), about 60 credits completed; TLI executive secretary and anticipated to teach elementary STEM. - Myra Chires: Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education, 52 credits completed; currently a special education aide at Joy Janes and expected to teach special education in elementary grades. - Juliana Chavita: Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies (English as a Second Language), about 70 credits completed; campus secretary at Castleberry Elementary and expected to teach ESL at the elementary level. - Maria Galvan Arredondo: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, 61 credits completed; bilingual instructional aide and anticipated to teach elementary education. - Francisco Hernandez: Bachelor of Arts in History for Secondary Education, 58 credits completed; attendance clerk at Irma Marsh Middle School and expected to teach social studies grades 6–12. - Dana Judkins: Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science (substance abuse focus), 28 credits completed; instructional aide at Castleberry High School and expected to teach CTE at the secondary level. - Andrea Rivera: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, 32 credits completed; instructional aide at Castleberry Elementary. - Diego Varela: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Special Education emphasis, 44 credits completed; special education aide at Irma Marsh.
Blanchard said the group has completed 447 credits to date across participants; she noted two participants were not present but were highlighted because of their progress. The program updates were presented as a recognition and informational item; no board action accompanied the report.
