The Wausau Finance Committee disallowed a claim for recovery of alleged unlawful tax filed by Green Acres at Greenwood Hills, LLC covering properties on Townline Road and a private road at Green Acres.
Rick, the city's assessor, reported the claim continues a dispute that is already before the courts and recommended the committee disallow the claim because of pending litigation and failure to prove the claim's validity. The assessor said the disputed assessment concerns roads that have not been conveyed to the City of Wausau.
Committee procedure required a motion in the affirmative and then a vote to deny/disallow the claim. A motion to approve (i.e., to accept the claim) was made and seconded, but the roll-call voice vote returned no in favor of acceptance; the committee chair clarified the vote and confirmed a unanimous decision to disallow the claim.
The committee recorded the claim as disallowed and moved on. No further remedies or follow-up steps were recorded on the meeting record.
