Council untables annual code-of-conduct review; members to sign acknowledgement forms

The Odessa City Council moved April 8 to remove from the table a previously deferred review of the council code of conduct. Councilman Vasquez moved to take the item off the table and Councilman Thompson seconded; the mayor called for the vote and the motion passed.
Norma, city staff, told the council the ordinance requires an annual review of the code of conduct and that members who do not request changes are to sign a form stating they have read and understood the policy. No councilmember proposed changes during the work session; staff said the forms are available for signatures and will be retained in city records.
The council did not adopt any amendments to the code of conduct at the April 8 work session; the item will proceed to the next council meeting if members have recommended changes or will otherwise remain on file as acknowledged.
