CAPSA highlights 'Shame Free Conversations' curriculum during Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Jill Anderson, chief executive officer of CAPSA, addressed the Cache County Council to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to describe CAPSA’s prevention and survivor‑support services.
Anderson said CAPSA served 2,429 individuals last year, “with more than 30 percent of those as individuals experiencing sexual violence.” She described barriers survivors face — shame, fear, lack of resources and stigma — and said CAPSA provides confidential support, legal advocacy and trauma‑informed care.
Anderson described a prevention curriculum called Shame Free Conversations, which she said is designed to help adults support youth by fostering “openness, trust, and healing.” She outlined the SAFE framework used in the curriculum and said the program has been approved by faith leaders including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints so it can be taught in faith and community groups.
Council members thanked CAPSA for its work; no council action was taken on the presentation.
