House Appropriations panel approves 'Science of Math' bill after adopting amendment

Representative Richter said the funding for the program will remain attached to the policy bill and will be placed in the DPI budget (10/13) after bills are finalized: “As of right now, the only place the dollars are will be in 22 13.”
The committee first voted to adopt the amendment and recorded a roll call. The amendment was adopted 21‑0 with 2 not voting. After adopting the amendment the committee proceeded to a due‑pass vote on SB 22‑13 as amended; that motion also passed by roll call with the same tally, 21‑0 with 2 not voting. Representative Richter was designated as the bill carrier out of the committee.
Why it matters: the committee left the program’s dollars attached to the policy bill rather than placing them immediately in the DPI (10/13) line item. Committee discussion centered on whether dollars were already contained in other budget documents; Richter said the Senate had not placed the funding in 10/13 and the funds will follow the policy bill forward.
The bill will move on with a committee recommendation for passage and will be carried by Representative Richter.
