The Story County Board of Supervisors directed staff on April 8 to work with the county attorney and CICS representatives to draft lease options for administrative office space for the Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) at the Human Services Center (HSC).
Carla (full title not specified) and Russell Wood (role not specified in the county record) told the board CICS is vacating space at 1103 Buckeye in Ames due to reorganization of Behavioral Health and Disability Services and is seeking a landing administrative location in Story County for two staff. Carla said the office would be used mainly as an administrative landing spot for two staff who will travel and would not be a public service point; the organization previously occupied more space in the HSC and that space remains available while the county plans server-room expansion in the next fiscal year.
Supervisors discussed space availability in HSC, existing DHS (HHS) leased space (about 7,000 sq ft) and the possibility of starting with a single office or reusing the former CICS footprint. The board instructed staff to work with the county attorney to prepare draft lease options and bring a recommendation back to the board. No lease was finalized at the meeting.
