Huxley reports near‑complete water treatment and new well projects funded with county ARPA support

David Hoglund, representing the City of Huxley, briefed the Story County Board on April 8 about two ARPA‑funded projects: a water treatment plant expansion and a new well.
Hoglund said the water treatment plant expansion — begun roughly three and a half years ago before his tenure — will double capacity and has changed the treatment process. The ARPA contribution from Story County was $500,000 and was applied toward the well project. Hoglund said the treatment plant is about 99.9% complete with only minor punch‑list and retainage items remaining; the well project is complete and the city expects to pay the retainage at the end of April and submit the final reimbursement request to Story County in May.
Hoglund said Huxley’s recent growth in housing, commercial and industrial development prompted the projects. He told supervisors the city had requested roughly 80% of the county ARPA funds to date and will send the final claim for the remainder. No additional county funding was requested at the meeting; Hoglund thanked the board for the county’s contribution.
