The Select Board discussed a previously negotiated payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) for the Gideon Lodge on April 7. The 1992 PILOT had not been billed in recent years; the board established a current annual payment of $2,236 (inflation-adjusted from the original $1,000) and directed staff to issue an invoice rather than a property-tax bill.
Paula (town staff) said the payment will be invoiced and noted in the assessor’s records and that the town will re-evaluate the payment at each five-year revaluation period. The board directed staff to set up the invoicing process and to add a property-file note indicating the PILOT arrangement so it will be reviewed in future revaluation cycles.
Board members agreed that the PILOT can be split across payments if the Lodge prefers that payment schedule. The board also asked that the Lodge request an appointment if it wants to discuss the matter in person; staff said the Lodge had indicated a willingness to meet.
No formal vote to waive or rescind any prior charge was recorded; the action is administrative: staff will generate and send an invoice for the agreed annual PILOT amount and track it in the assessor’s files.
