The North Canton City Council voted to continue the city's designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA), a measure renewed every five years under Ohio law and the city’s ordinances.
Councilors cited the DORA’s use for Main Street programming, including festivals and other downtown events, as a reason to extend the designation. “I think it makes sense that we extend it. I think that it's been very nice for some of the programs, the programming that happens on Main Street,” Member Weierich said during discussion.
City staff reported that they had contacted the public safety and public works departments and that those departments “reported no concerns, spikes and issues since the DORA was inactive,” a staff member said (paraphrased). Following that exchange the presiding officer moved to proceed with the agenda item; the motion was seconded and recorded as carried.
