The project team said the design—developed from community meetings and a 2016–19 preliminary design effort—includes new conveyance and inlets, roughly 370 new drainage structures and about 43,000 linear feet of pipeline, expanded exfiltration trenches in higher ground, about 12,000 linear feet of vegetated swales, and a new pump station on the neighborhood’s east basin. “The neighborhood is split into 2 different basins,” said David Castro, senior engineer with Timber Associates and engineer of record. “Some of the improvements that we’re proposing include exfiltration trenches, new drainage piping, swale restoration, and a new pump station.”
The design package and final bid documents were submitted to the city in March 2025, presenters said. Consultants are pursuing permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Nationwide Permits 7 and 13), Broward County (ERP and ERL), and the South Florida Water Management District; traffic‑control plans will also be submitted to Broward County traffic engineering. Presenters told the task force they have begun securing those approvals before issuing the project to bid.
