Committee members and staff reviewed progress on neighborhood association outreach and the city council’s retreat priorities.
Staff said the council held a retreat on Saturday to begin the process of recruiting a new city manager and to plan community engagement; the retreat also discussed parks strategy and a possible community center as an early focus.
Committee members reviewed an updated neighborhood-association map and noted three areas where associations have not yet formed; staff said a council staffer (Chris) is actively working to create those groups and that some association leadership and meeting times remain in development. Members encouraged attendance at established associations to increase public feedback.
The committee also placed Parks on the agenda for the next meeting (June 4) to receive a department update and to discuss volunteer participation in the farmers market program. Staff referenced ongoing efforts to match neighborhood-representative leadership with meeting schedules and to publicize associations’ contact information once available.
No formal action was taken; members agreed to invite Parks to a future meeting and to continue outreach to form the remaining neighborhood associations.
