The Sawyer County LCO EDC told the committee it completed a sponsorship drive of 22 businesses, is producing a workforce recruitment video with county partners and flagged free technical-assistance resources and a small-business academy on May 9.
Adam Mori, executive director of the Sawyer County LCO Economic Development Corporation, updated the committee on local business-support activities including a completed sponsorship drive and a workforce recruitment video produced in coordination with the county.
"We currently have, and completed our sponsorship drive. So 22 businesses that are sponsoring the EDC," Mori said, noting about 10 of those sponsors are new this year. He said the EDC and county have been recording video at locations including Tamarac Health, Hayward Schools and downtown Hayward to promote working and living in Sawyer County.
Mori also highlighted state technical-assistance through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) and flagged a lieutenant governor’s small-business academy scheduled for May 9 at Flat Creek from 8 a.m. to noon covering financial recordkeeping, social media and business succession planning.
He said the EDC is producing promotional videos for five small businesses and encouraged county staff to share SSBCI help with local businesses.
No formal action was taken on the EDC report; staff noted contract-for-services items with the EDC and other partners will be discussed later.
