Planning commission appointment: The council appointed Trevor Zens to a five-year term on the city planning commission beginning May 20; staff said Zens grew up in Aberdeen, attended NDSU and completed degrees in environmental design and landscape. Councilman Ronain moved the appointment and Councilwoman Foberg seconded; the motion carried on voice vote.
One-day liquor license: The council approved a one-day on-sale liquor license for the Boys & Girls Club Wine Fest on May 3 at the Boys & Girls Club facility. The motion carried.
Property tax abatement: The Brown County Auditor requested an abatement for one parcel on Tenth Avenue Southwest after a house was removed; staff recommended approval and said the city share of the abatement is $10.55. The council approved the abatement on roll call.
Bills and payroll: The council approved bills and payroll for the pay period March 23 through April 5; several members recorded abstentions but the motion carried.
