The Santa Fe Finance Committee on April 7 approved a budget amendment resolution to allocate $794,164 from the Lodgers Tax Fund balance to the Arts and Culture Department’s FY2025 budget for ongoing arts initiatives and a feasibility study for the Greer Garson Theatre.
Chelsea Johnson, Arts and Culture director, presented the proposal and committee members asked for a more detailed, line‑item breakdown. “I would like to see a budgetary distribution of what it is to each 1 of those,” Councilor Lindell said during the hearing, asking staff to provide a clearer allocation among sponsorships, consulting, advertising and capital items.
In background remarks staff cited uses including sponsorship of cultural events, inventory and disposition work for equipment at Garson Studios, public programming, advertising tied to Santa Fe’s UNESCO Creative Cities twentieth anniversary and a Greer Garson feasibility study. Johnson said she would provide the committee a project‑level breakdown after the meeting.
A motion to approve the budget amendment passed on roll call. Committee members recorded the vote as a yes from members present; Councilor Faulkner stepped out during the roll call and was excused until she returned.
