Summary

The Hingham School Committee on April 7 approved an update to the 2025–26 district calendar that corrects the listed date for Passover and moves Hingham High School’s graduation to May 30, 2026.
District staff told the committee they had misread the regulation governing the timing of graduation as "12 school days" when the requirement is 12 calendar days from the end of the school year. Correcting that interpretation allowed the district to schedule graduation earlier, responding to community feedback that families prefer an earlier date.
District staff also corrected the Passover date on the calendar to April 2, 2026. The committee approved the calendar update by voice vote with no roll‑call tally recorded.
The district said the change followed consultation with state guidance and will be reflected in published calendars and communications to families.
