Harnett County restores $184,389 to Central Carolina Community College in budget amendment

The Harnett County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment at its meeting to reinstate $184,389 previously cut from Central Carolina Community College’s operating budget.

County Manager Trell told commissioners the reinstatement responds to the college’s submitted invoices and staffing and maintenance needs. "We're looking at reinstating the $184,389 that we cut from the budget at the time of the approval of the budget," Trell said, noting staff would use a combination of operating funds and contingency to restore the amount.

The county manager said the college had not used all of the Promise funds allocated earlier in the year and had now submitted invoices for the full year. Trell said the board would use some operating money and some contingency to return the college to its full amount so it could provide for staffing and maintenance needs.

A motion to approve the budget amendments was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor by voice vote and the motion carried. The meeting minutes do not record a roll-call tally in the transcript. The board also approved the published agenda and the consent agenda earlier in the meeting.

County staff noted no additional conditions attached to the reinstatement in the public discussion recorded in the transcript. The motion was presented by the county manager and approved during the same session.
