The Brentwood School Board re-elected Brian Duffy as chair and selected Megan as vice chair at the start of the reorganizational meeting.
The board approved the February 10 minutes as amended and then turned to a central-office financial update. Molly (central office) told the board she was still working with the IRS on a tax-refund/status issue tied to the district’s solar project and anticipated additional usage reports from the solar vendor to support the refund. "When you call the number, it says they no longer support this and tell you to go to the website," Molly said. She said the district had received preliminary usage data and expected to be able to pull more detailed production information independently in the future.
Molly also reviewed current-year finances and noted a software line overage of about $7,000 and explained the district is budgeting higher for next year. She said the district publishes federal grant revenue totals and would provide a link and a total federal-funding figure at the May meeting on request.
The board considered a package of updated policies (section 7.3.01 through 7.3.17 in the board materials) and a set of withdrawals (7.3.18 through 7.3.21). A board member moved to adopt the updated policies; after discussion the motion passed on voice/roll call. A separate motion to withdraw the four listed policies also passed.
During discussion of the DAF model policy (federal grants single-audit threshold), staff noted the model policy’s suggested single-audit threshold had been raised to $1,000,000, but the district retained the existing $750,000 threshold because that is the requirement in effect now. The board said it would reconsider if the federal threshold formally changes.
The board also agreed to publish federal funding totals by grant and provide that link for trustees and the public; staff offered to present the district’s federal funding totals at the May meeting.
