The board moved the resolution to place the proposed budget before district residents after a presentation and discussion of the district's multi-year planning and the assumption of pending state aid. Board members praised staff for budget work that reduced an earlier projected deficit and for proposed additions, including a new business teacher position.
District leaders told the board they remain uncertain about final state aid levels but that current indicators make the district reasonably confident of the funding level on which the budget was based. The board reiterated that it will continue monitoring state action in the coming weeks.
The motion to place the budget on the May ballot was made and seconded; the board approved the resolution by voice vote, recorded as unanimous.
Board members said they would continue to brief the public before the hearing and that staff would update the board if material changes in state funding occur before final adoption.
