The Warner Robins City Council approved an ordinance amending the city classification plan to increase authorized strength in the utility department and to move currently assigned employees into a utility servicer classification with a minimum 10% pay increase.
Councilman Lawrenson moved to change the classification plan and to waive a second reading; Councilman Bibb seconded the motion. Council members voted by voice and the motion carried unanimously.
According to the ordinance language read into the record, the changes include increasing the authorized strength of the utility servicer job class (job code 968, grade 10) in the utility department by four positions and establishing a part-time utility servicer class (job code 978, grade 99) with an authorized strength of four. The council also directed that employees currently in the position be moved into the utility servicer classification with at least a 10% increase in pay.
A speaker on the record said the city has budget capacity to support the change and described the additional positions as giving the utility department needed staff. The transcript records no roll-call tally; the clerk announced the motion carried unanimously. The ordinance reading was waived by council action at the same meeting.
