Capital outlay staff updated the school board March 20 on several construction and maintenance projects across the district.
On the Cherokee High School replacement, Mr. Morse reported transformers from the utility have arrived and installation is under way, enabling systems testing on permanent power. He said data wiring installation and exterior light‑pole placement have begun and that the project remains on schedule and within budget.
Free Home Elementary is nearing completion: furniture installation and cafeteria work were scheduled to start in the coming weeks, with project closeout pending final punch‑list work and receipt of closeout documentation, Morse said. He thanked board members who attended a recent ribbon‑type community event at the school.
For Teasley Middle School, staff told the board the contractor recommendation for driveway improvements will come to the board during the evening business meeting for consideration. Mr. Morse said the contractor was recommended by the selection committee.
The presentation also listed summer maintenance plans across campuses, including flooring, painting, lighting, roofing and intercom work districtwide.
