Assistant superintendent (assessment lead) explained the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction recently allowed districts to re-administer tests during the regular school year's testing window. The district set re-administration dates of June 2–6, 2025, for the summer re-administration window and noted nontraditional-calendar schools have a May 14–20 window.
Board materials instruct schools to provide a minimum of one hour of remediation per subject on re-administration days; schools may offer additional remediation time. District staff framed the change as both a student-advancement opportunity and a cost savings by avoiding end-of-year logistics and extra transportation costs.
The vote: the board approved the re-administration plan and directed staff to implement it prior to May 2 so the district could meet DPI timelines for the 2024–25 school year.
