Committee narrows financial-records disclosure for limited video lottery permittees

House Bill 2444 would limit the West Virginia Lottery Commission's authority to examine only accounts and records related to a permittee's video lottery business rather than all of a permittee's financial accounts.
The Senate Finance Committee approved reporting House Bill 2444 to the full Senate. Counsel explained the bill would modify current code so that a limited video lottery permittee need disclose to the West Virginia Lottery Commission only those accounts, financial statements and records that relate to the permittee's video lottery business — not all of the permittee's bank accounts and financial statements unrelated to the video lottery operations.
Counsel said the change would address permittees' concerns about broad examination authority and limit Lottery Commission examinations to records relating to the video lottery business in which the permittee has an interest. The vice chair moved that the bill be reported to the full Senate with recommendation that it do pass; the motion passed by voice vote.
