Band students and staff recounted a March trip to New York City and the St. Patrick’s Day parade during the May 3 meeting, and the board approved a proposal to take music ensembles to Walt Disney World during April vacation 2026.
Student drum majors described the New York trip—visiting Rockefeller Center, seeing the Broadway show Hamilton and marching roughly two miles down Fifth Avenue for the parade. "We were super lucky to have that. The weather was perfect," a drum major said of leading the grand marshal during the parade.
Music director Serge presented a tentative plan to visit Disney Saturday, April 25 through Thursday, April 30, 2026, with the band marching in the Magic Kingdom parade and chorus/orchestra performing on Disney stages. Serge said the preliminary per-student price range is $2,000–$2,500, noting prior 2022 costs around $1,800; staff emphasized fundraising and financial-aid options for families.
Board action: A motion to approve the 2025–26 band trip to Disney passed 4–0.
