The Centre County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 28 to adopt two proclamations: proclamation No. 11 of 2025, recognizing April 2025 as National County Government and Centre County Employee Appreciation Month, and proclamation No. 12 of 2025, recognizing April 2025 as Justice Education Month in Centre County.
Brandy Henry of the Penn State College of Education Restorative Justice Institute outlined a monthlong slate of events tied to Justice Education Month, including a March 28 presentation by two justice-impacted graduate students; a panel on Penn State’s prison-education history; an interactive reentry simulation at Dickinson Law School in Carlisle; a two-day restorative circles and conferencing training; movie screenings and panel discussions; and a keynote by Doshna Polanco (as announced). Henry said events will be held on campus with Zoom options and posted on the institute’s website.
Commissioner Concepcion and other commissioners thanked Penn State staff and county employees, noting the county’s collaboration with courts, probation and specialty courts and highlighting efforts to reduce the jail population through treatment and reentry programs. The board invited members of the public and county staff to attend events and to use outreach material that will be distributed through county communications.
The board adopted both proclamations by voice vote; the minutes record “aye” votes with no opposition.
