Clerk reports 6,000 senior tax-freeze applications; commission approves second round of recommendations

Platte County Clerk Jara Pruitt told commissioners on March 17 that the county has received more than 6,000 applications for the senior tax freeze program launched after voter approval and that staff continue to process applications.
"Since the enactment of the senior tax freeze program, my office has been taking in applications and working with citizens of Platte County. We've received over 6,000 applications at this time and will continue to accept applications until May fifteenth of this year," Pruitt said while presenting the order.
Pruitt presented the commission with a second round of recommended approvals and denials and said staff were working with applicants to collect missing information before finalizing recommendations. The commission approved the order to adopt the clerk’s list by a recorded 3-0 vote.
Ending: Clerk’s staff will continue to accept applications through May 15 and will work with applicants to collect required information before making additional recommendations to the commission.
