Wabasha County recognizes Deputy Eric Rowley with life‑saving award

WABASHA COUNTY — The Wabasha County Board heard a presentation honoring Deputy Eric Rowley for his role in a Jan. 18 resuscitation that Lake City Ambulance says helped save a patient’s life.
Lake City Ambulance Director Scribe Rybarczyk told commissioners that at about 2:37 p.m. on Jan. 18, first responders were dispatched to a reported seizure. Lake City Police Officer Aaron Foss found the patient pulseless and not breathing, Rybarczyk said, and emergency crews began resuscitation efforts.
"Deputy Rowley arrived to the scene and assisted the crew in the ongoing resuscitation, which resulted in the patient being successfully resuscitated on scene," Rybarczyk said. Rybarczyk identified the patient as Diane Sherhammer, who was later flown to Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, released a week later and is making a full recovery.
Rybarczyk presented Rowley with a plaque and noted that Lake City Ambulance "recognizes deputy Eric Rowley for his heroic efforts with this life saving award and bestows upon him the department and the city's appreciation." Rowley told the board the ambulance crew and Officer Foss performed extensive CPR before his arrival and that he was "just glad I could be there and help."
The presentation included members of Lake City Ambulance and local law enforcement. No board action was required for the award presentation.
The recognition was presented during the board's staff‑updates portion of the meeting.
