Committee members unanimously approved language allowing the military division to implement changes needed to maintain parity between state National Guard pay and equivalent federal pay schedules.
Frances Lippitt, budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, explained the military division is statutorily required to maintain parity with the federal general schedule pay scale for National Guard administration compensation. She said recent compensation adjustments at the federal level use percentage changes while the state change was structured differently and the committee language will provide an exemption to allow the division to implement the intended change.
The committee approved the language by unanimous consent and the motion will be included with the committee's package moving forward.
