Board approves 2025–2028 school resource officer contract; consent agenda adopted

The Village of Hortonville Board voted to accept a contract extending school resource officer (SRO) services through June 2028 and approved the consent agenda with corrections to the March meeting minutes.

Clerk/President called for a motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the March 20, 2025 regular meeting minutes and claims against the village. A trustee noted two corrections to the minutes (the narrowest sidewalk measurement should read 11½ feet and the board’s roll-call vote format), and a motion to approve the consent agenda with those corrections passed by roll call (six ayes). "Motion carried," the meeting record shows.

On a separate agenda item the board discussed and approved a 2025–2028 SRO contract. Village staff said the contract ends June 30, 2028 to avoid a late 2027 expiration and to allow time to project numbers; the board was told that contract language remains unchanged from the prior agreement and only the dollar figures were updated to reflect union changes. A motion to accept the contract passed on roll call (motion carried).

No detailed ordinance or contract number was read into the record during the public discussion. The board did not alter contract language during the meeting; staff said the contract numbers were updated to reflect the police union agreement and that the village does not expect personnel changes for the two SRO positions, which are currently filled by Officer Sikalski and Officer Hauler. "The feedback has been very positive," staff reported.
