Alpine council unanimously approves late-night alcohol permit, horse permit, pool rules and equipment purchase

Alpine City Council on April 1 unanimously approved a set of action items that included a special-use permit allowing Holland for Yucca to obtain a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission license to sell alcohol until 2 a.m., an animal permit enabling two horses at 1902 West Avenue E issued to Robert Gates, revisions to municipal pool rules, and the purchase of an asphalt zipper piece of equipment.

The Council’s consent agenda also passed unanimously. Council members heard updates from the Alpine Emergency Services Board, the Family Crisis Center and the Alpine Public Library, and issued proclamations recognizing Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week and Dark Sky Week.

Why it matters: The actions change how some businesses may operate overnight under city zoning, confirm a specific animal-use allowance for a single residential property, and modify municipal pool supervision rules that affect parents and guardians of young swimmers.
