Christian County presented first-quarter reports from human resources, purchasing and information technology and recognized Sayer Lee as the county’s employee of the quarter for 2025.
Human Resources reported 16 new hires and 10 separations during the quarter and a workforce of 256 employees as of the most recent payroll. HR staff said they processed more than 500 applications this quarter, completed 1095-C reporting to the IRS, and updated the county’s sunshine request process in coordination with the clerk’s office. HR advised that open enrollment data corrections created extra payroll work but said those issues have been addressed.
Purchasing staff reported multiple new contracts and renewals, surplus vehicle and equipment sales and participation by staff in conferences, including MAP. Purchasing assistant Janine attended the MAP conference; Purchasing Director Kim was appointed to a leadership committee for the National Institute of Public Procurement.
IT staff provided a quarter summary noting completion of multiple migrations and handling 91 service tickets in the quarter. Commissioners credited creating an in-house IT department with saving the county money compared with prior outside contracts. Presiding Commissioner Lynn Moore said the in-house team and HR oversight are “saving the county money” and improving efficiency.
The commission presented an employee-of-the-quarter certificate and gift card to Sayer Lee, office manager at the Resource Management Building. Moore read the nomination: peers called Lee "the heart of the office" and praised her for stepping up to help others and for organizing building events. Moore said the employee award is selected by peers rather than elected officials.
No policy decisions or budget votes were taken on these reports; they were presented for the record.
