The Christian County Commission approved final plats and related easements and restrictions for the County Government Plaza and directed staff to record the documents after commissioners sign and notarize them.
Todd Weisenhoff, Resource Management Director, told the commission that the final plats were “perfected and ready for signature,” and that county counsel and the counsel’s associate had reviewed the documents. Weisenhoff said the City of Ozark reviewed the plats and had no comments.
Presiding Commissioner Lynn Moore provided background on the project, describing the County Government Plaza as a 40-acre property east of the B & B Theater along Highway 14. Moore said the plaza will centralize many county services in one location and that the county plans to pay for construction “cash as we go” rather than issuing bonds. She described planned amenities including a park-like setting, an amphitheater and trails, and said the county has sold two of five outer lots to help fund development.
The commission made a motion to approve the plat; the motion and second carried by voice vote. Moore said the commissioners would sign the plat at the end of the meeting and proceed to record the documents.
No borrowing or bonding was authorized at the meeting; Moore reiterated the county’s stated intention to finance the project without debt.
