Carson High HOSA chapter earns gold awards; dozens of students qualify for national competition

Carson High School's HOSA chapter was recognized at the board meeting for achievements at the Nevada HOSA State Leadership Conference and for advancing students to national competition.
Frank Sackerias (CHS advisor) told the board that 74 students and three advisors attended the state conference in Reno. He said the chapter earned a Gold Level 100% membership award, that the chapter had three state champions and that 40 students qualified to attend the International Leadership Conference in Nashville. CHS student Maria Benshoof was elected the Nevada HOSA Western Region vice president for 202526#x2013;26 and will attend leadership training, including the Washington Leadership Academy in the fall.
The board invited students who attended to introduce themselves and name events in which they competed; several students described placements in forensic science, healthcare issues and CPR/First Aid competitions. The district and trustees congratulated the students and advisors for competitive and service accomplishments.
No board action was required; the presentation was informational and focused on student recognition and career-technical education pathways.
