Maggie McDowell, reporting to the committee on Sunny Hill Nursing Home, said the facility will complete a multi-avenue bed and mattress replacement project on April 8 and has started working with ARPA administrators to procure bedroom furniture for all resident rooms.
McDowell said the furniture procurement project will cover nightstands, wardrobe/closet space and sets of drawers for 156 rooms; recliners are not provided universally because they require individual resident assessment through therapy and restorative services. She told the committee that planting in raised garden beds on the lower-level patio will begin this week and that volunteers, facility gardeners and the Friends of Sunny Hill will help with mulching and exterior cleanup.
On capacity, McDowell reported that Sunny Hill is at full capacity with 56 beds and a waiting list. She said admissions staff have compiled a report on admission origins and that she will present that report at next month’s meeting. McDowell also said she plans to reintroduce a resolution in May to revert to the facility’s original admissions preference for Will County residents, noting the facility has remained full.
Committee members asked for clarification on the number of out-of-county residents and for a tour; McDowell said she will present the admissions data at the next meeting and is arranging tours before Mother’s Day.
