At its April 1 meeting the Louisa County School Board heard that the county's school resource officer team is fully staffed with the recent hire of Alicia Boton, and that the safety task force has closed the outstanding action items it was tracking, a task‑force presenter said.

The presenter said Boton joined roughly a week earlier, bringing prior experience as a dispatcher and in law enforcement. She will work alongside Sgt. Harris and is positioned to fill any SRO assignment as needed across the division. "We are very glad to have her on board," the presenter said.

The presenter said two remaining task‑force items — one relating to camera equipment and one involving a regional mental‑health counselor position — have been completed, and praised facilities and school principals for addressing implementation tasks.

Board members were told the division will host representatives of the University of Virginia's behavioral threat assessment team at an upcoming meeting on April 10. The presenter said the UVA team will discuss differences and continuities in threat assessment as students move from high school to postsecondary environments and suggested the presentation may highlight areas the division should review.

The safety update was presented as an informational item; no formal board action was taken during the safety portion of the meeting. Board members thanked staff for the progress and said they appreciated the task force's work to complete open items and shore up staffing.

The board chair noted the division has faced recent staff losses and thanked employees and the community for supporting one another during difficult times, remarks that preceded the safety update.
