At its April 3 meeting the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission voted to award bush-hog mowing services for two town-owned parcels to Parks Outdoor and to permit temporary storage of sewer project materials on the Haymaker Drive parcel for the Indiana American Water/Banning Engineering sewer project.
Staff solicited quotes for mowing: Parks Outdoor bid $900 per visit (the apparent low bid), Hardin quoted $1,812.50 per visit and Hilltop Farms did not submit a proposal. The parcels covered are the detention-basin parcel west of Haymaker Drive and the triangular parcel that holds the town welcome sign. Staff noted last year’s total mowing cost was approximately $5,800.
Separately, town staff and the council president informed the commission that the sewer project will need a staging area for pipes and manholes. The commission approved allowing materials to be staged on the Haymaker Drive parcel with the caveat that the site be restored to its pre‑use condition. Staff said it had requested an email paper trail and would seek any necessary documentation; the engineer’s exact materials-delivery timeline was not provided.
Why it matters: awarding recurring maintenance for town-owned parcels and allowing temporary staging for a multiyear sewer project affect land use, marketing and the condition of property the commission has been considering selling. Commissioners asked staff to secure written confirmation of the storage arrangement and the restoration requirement.
No formal dollar amount for use or damage reclamation was discussed; commissioners approved both motions by voice vote.
