USDB launches redesigned website; leaders highlight student competitions and international travel

Superintendent Joel Coleman showed trustees a newly redesigned USDB website, saying the site launched last week after about a year and a half of work and is more accessible for users with vision or hearing needs.
“It's more accessible, which, of course, is very critical,” Coleman said during his superintendent report, and he pointed to features such as videos with signed interpretation in the corner of the screen. The site address identified in the presentation was usdb.org.
Administrators also described recent and upcoming student activities funded by enrichment dollars. Michelle Tanner told the board USDB teams completed academic bowl preparation and will compete nationally; she said Gallaudet University is covering national‑level travel costs for participating students. Tanner also described robotics competitions, coding, remotely operated vehicle events and trips: several students will travel to Boston for historical study and other students were traveling to Japan as part of a cultural trip while staff accompanied them.
Coleman tied the enrichment fund budget to those programs, explaining that spring is the primary time for student trips and activities and that those expenditures illustrate how enrichment funds directly affect students’ educational experiences.
No board action was required; trustees heard the report and thanked staff for the update.
