The Charlestown Town Council unanimously approved a special outdoor entertainment license for the General Stanton Inn listing a schedule of events from June through October, with all events required to conclude by 9:00 p.m.
Ed Moore, representing the General Stanton Inn, said the expanded 2025 lineup builds on last year’s events and described plans to hold activities "rain or shine" under a roughly 1,700-square-foot tent. "We wanted a whole number of different activities and events in the summer of 2025," Moore said.
The schedule approved by the council includes the Charlestown Summer Festival (June 21), classic car shows (June 28 and Sept. 13), Bluegrass Fest (July 12), Country Fest (July 19), Jazz Fest (Aug. 9), Blues Fest (Aug. 23), Folk Fest (Sept. 20), an art show (Sept. 27), Oktoberfest (Oct. 4) and the URI Guitar Festival (Oct. 19). No members of the public registered to speak in opposition; resident Jane Glander asked how the council would weigh ordinance review and neighbor input during broader ordinance discussions.
The motion to approve was passed 5 to 0, subject to the applicant submitting all required paperwork.
