The Charlestown Town Council voted unanimously to appoint Sean Henry as town planner, effective Feb. 28, 2025, with a term to expire indefinitely.
Sean Henry told the council he is "really looking forward to it" and thanked Town Administrator Jeff Allen and predecessor Jane Weidman for assistance and support. The appointment followed a brief summary of Henry’s experience in Rhode Island municipal planning roles and his academic credentials, which the town administrator read aloud.
According to the town administrator’s memo, Henry is currently principal planner and special projects coordinator for the city of Warwick and previously held planning roles in North Kingstown and Hopkinton. Henry’s education includes a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island, a Master of Public Administration, and a certificate in public management from Roger Williams University.
The council approved the motion on a roll-call vote of 5 to 0. Attorney Regiro confirmed no issue with the effective date change. After the vote, council members welcomed Henry and said he was welcome to stay for the remainder of the meeting.
