The retirement drew brief remarks from Frances Kopek, vice chair of the Charlestown Planning Commission, who praised Weidman’s work on the town’s comprehensive plan and her collaboration with multiple town departments. "She's been a solid and invaluable aid to the planning commission over the years," Kopek said.
Council members placed a small gift on record for Weidman; she was not present at the meeting. The council’s chair offered a public wish for "a long and happy retirement," and the motion to accept the retirement carried 5 to 0 on a roll-call vote.
The council noted it expects the planning commission and new planner to coordinate going forward as the town fills the position. No further action was taken at the meeting regarding interim staffing or recruitment details.
